have just returned from a fantastic morning out with a number
of brethren having taken part in the inaugural walking football
training session organised by Steve Hiles. The reason I have
felt compelled to send this email is that I cannot remember
when I last had so much fun and I am only sorry that more
of you could not have joined us.The session started at 10am
with a quick briefing on the rules from Andy a Middlesex coach
- no running, barging, or kicking the ball over head height.
We were then divided into two teams and provided with team
bibs and played two halves of 15mins each way.
Paulden ,who is known to most of you, reports -
“What a great morning. It was the funniest thing I have
done in masonry for a long time. I only went to photograph
the event but was soon getting involved. I thoroughly enjoyed
joining in even though I have several health issues. I just
slowed down near the middle second half, which made no difference
to everyone's enjoyment of the game. I even scored a goal.
The second I have ever scored! The first was at secondary
school. I hope I don’t have to wait as long for my third
goal. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Come along and get involved.
It’s a good work out whether you play for 5mins or the
Lowson, equally as infamous, reports -
“Paul you should have been sent off 14 times for running.
Pradip grabbed my shirt 4 times , Stephen stood on my foot
3 times. So you are all disqualified. It was one of the funniest
events I have ever attended”
the game we met in the café, had a sausage roll and
a cup of tea and left about 11.30. I feel great and ready
to face the weekend chores. I know everyone who took part
had a good time and is looking forward to meeting up again,
same place, same time in two weeks (8th April). Why don't
you come and join us, I promise you won't regret it!
Family and friends are welcome.
